If you’re wondering how to start a successful coaching business, you’re in the right place!
In this post, I’m going to share everything you need to do to start your coaching business.
FIND A NICHE THAT’S ALIGNED WITH YOU AND YOUR STORY
This is a biggie!!! If you’ve been around here for awhile you always hear me preach having an aligned niche.
I cannot stress how important this is.
If what you’re coaching on doesn’t light you up, you’ll burn out quickly. 😣
Find your aligned niche by writing out your story and making a list of your transformational experiences. Choose a transformational experience that you resonate with most and turn that into your coaching niche.
If you need help with getting clear on your niche, I got you covered! I offer 90-minute niche clarity intensive sessions that come with 5 days of unlimited Voxer support. You can apply here!
IDENTIFY YOUR DREAM CUSTOMER
Pro Tip 👉🏼 YOU can be your dream customer.
I wish someone would’ve told me this sooner.
I actually suggest to my clients that they are their dream customer, doing this helps you fully understand what your dream client is struggling with and how they’re feeling. It also makes it a billion times easier to create content.
Who were you back when you were struggling with (insert your aligned niche)? That is your dream customer!!
Write this person out and put that piece of paper in your office. Whenever you post a piece of content, make sure you’re speaking to that one person.
DO YOUR MARKET RESEARCH
Make sure your niche is profitable. Don’t skip this step!!
Now that you know your niche and who your dream client is, find your dream client where they’re hanging out and ask to interview them.
Whenever I do this, I always offer a Starbucks gift card in exchange for their time. Offer some sort of incentive to show your appreciation.
Keep the interview to 3-5 questions and take super detailed notes!
The objective here is to make sure that there is a solid market who has the problem you’re solving for. This will also help you build confidence in your new niche.
START BUILDING A COMMUNITY
Yes, I suggest you do this before you have a website. No sense in spending your time building a website if no one is looking at it!
The best way to build an engaged community is by providing a ton of value to your dream customer.
Find where your dream customer is asking questions (FB groups is great for this!) and answer those questions as if they’re in a paid session with you.
Build that trust. Position yourself as an authority. Focus on building solid relationships. Relationship building is 🔑!!
PUT TOGETHER A SIMPLE BUT PROFITABLE PRODUCT SUITE
Make sure your product suite is aligned with you. It’s something that feels good and isn’t something you feel like you need to be doing.
If you want to sell high-ticket, great. If you don’t, great. Stay true to yourself here!
It’s also super important that your product suite is scalable and grows with your business. Don’t hesitate to seek help on this front if you need it.
Remember – if you don’t believe in your product suite, neither will the person on the other end of your discovery call. You’ll know when you put together one that is aligned. Keep digging until you get there!
TELL YOUR COMMUNITY HOW THEY CAN WORK WITH YOU
Now that you’ve build relationships with people in your community and have a profitable product suite, share how people can work with you.
Selling doesn’t have to be scary. My rule of thumb is to approach sales as if you’re talking to a friend.
The best way to do this is to have an existing relationship with your audience, show up on camera to help build that trust factor, and serve serve serve before you jump into selling.
Talk about your offer often. I like to talk about mine 1 in every 5 Instagram posts that I put up and weekly on my story. I’ll also drop it in about 1 in every 5 emails I send to my email list. Don’t assume people know what you do, tell them!
CONTINUE TO GROW AND NURTURE YOUR COMMUNITY
Sometimes we fall into the trap of thinking that if we post amazing content, the right people will come and find us. Ground yourself and remember that it’s up to you to engage as well. Put yourself out there, leverage other people’s audience and ALWAYS be serving!
Another rule of thumb that I swear by – serve, serve, serve, then sell! Your community is everything.
No engaged community = no thriving business.
Now you have everything you need to start a successful business coaching! It’s time to take actions and turn your dreams into a reality.
