Are you wondering how to build an engaged audience for your coaching business?
Look no further! Below, I walk you through how to get started step-by-step.
Remember, community building is a marathon, not a sprint. It takes time to build people’s trust. Be patient. Be consistent. It will happen.
Let’s dive into it…
Get SUPER clear and specific with who you serve and the tangible end result you deliver them.
Are you solving a problem or are you just inspiring/motivating?
You can absolutely inspire/motivate, but you also want to solve a problem and make sure the person is walking away with something tangible.
Also, when it comes to your niche, make sure you’re in alignment with it. If you aren’t 110% about your business, that energy is going to shine through when you’re talking to prospective clients.
Work hard on finding that alignment and make sure your business is always operated out of alignment. It will do wonders for your sales and impact goals.
Remember, your I help statement isn’t about you – it’s about attracting your dream customer.
Word it in a way that your dream customer would describe their desired end result.
Would they say “I want to optimize my Instagram profile so I can get more clients” or would they say “I want to get more engaged followers?”
Probably the latter.
Make your I help statements short and concise. Focus on getting straight to the point in as few works as possible.
The formula I swear by for I help statements is:
I (help/teach/coach) (specifically who) to (tangible end result).
Focus on your dream customers’ shiny North Star as your tangible end result. What do they want above all else? Deliver that result.
Give away your best stuff for free.
Don’t hold back.
People cringe when I say that, but it takes A LOT to position yourself as the authority in your space and build trust with your community.
Focus on giving your best stuff away for free (“the what”) but positioning yourself as the “how” it gets done.
For example. I always talk about how your niche comes from your story (this is my “what”). Almost no one who helps people with niches talks about that. That’s my secret sauce.
But the “how” is actually being able to extract that from your story. You do that by getting an outside opinion from someone who doesn’t know you (hence why I created my 90-minute niche intensive) – positioning myself as the “how.”
I always tell people to be their own dream customers. It will make your life 29384234 times easier.
Look back on an experience you went through in your life. How can you turn that into your niche?
I suggest this for many reasons, but one of the main ones is because you’re going to be able to relate to your dream customer so much more because you’ve been through what they’re currently experiencing.
Your story is going to make them feel seen and heard.
It’s going to attract them to you.
It’s your golden ticket to building an engaged community.
Your story is your power.
Own it. Share it. Shout it from the rooftops.
Make a conscious effort to show face multiple times a week.
It takes time for people to build trust with you. It doesn’t happen overnight.
Marketing experts say it takes 7+ times for someone to remember what you do.
Keep showing up even when it feels like no one is watching. You will look back and thank yourself when it all falls together.

The biggest misconception I see when it comes to building an engaged audience is that people think they don’t have to engage with their community because people should come to them.
Don’t make this mistake!
Building a genuine relationship is a two-way street.
Remember: quality > quantity. ALWAYS.
Show up for these people like you want them to show up for you.
